Next Time Thru

See, it's a night like last night that reminds there will be stuff we'll miss about New York. Yeah, friends, museums, restaurants, just about anything you need within a five-block radius of your apartment, blah, blah, blah.

Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Irish singer/songwriter/guitar players and found out that one who I really like a lot,
Brendan O'Shea, was playing a gig to promote his new album over on Ludlow Street last night. I figured, man, this guy is great, it's going to be packed out, gotta get tickets. But we were pleasantly surprised we could get in and mildly disappointed that there weren't more in the small house to see this guy. He played a really nice set. Engaging, poetic and beautifully simple. We stayed on to catch his friend Andy White, too. Some fun songs and the guy plays a mean twelve string.

The semi-spontaneous, nice dinner in a different neighborhood, followed by some cool music in an intimate space by an artist recently discovered lifted our spirits and we forgot about all the questions and confusion and sturm and drang and had a blast as we sang along and tried to whistle to help our man out during his set.

Go pick up or download Brendan's Be Here Still. And download the late, great
Mic Christopher's Skylarkin' while you're at it. His song "Heyday" always puts me in the best mood whenever I hear it.
